All about Mills and Boon. How they got started, what type of books they printed, about their authors and reviews by me on the books I have read....
Welcome to the Mills and Boon Page.

Mills and Boon is a romance imprint of British publisher 'Harlequin Enterprises' which was originally founded in 1908 by Mr. G.R Mills and Mr C. Boon.
By the 1930's Mills and Boon changed the direction of their stories by moving them more towards escapist fiction for women. In 1971, they brought in Canadian company Harlequin Enterprises, with whom they formed a long standing partnership.
Over the years, Mills and Boon have been criticised for publishing books that are considered 'low-brow', even though this has also been one of the reasons for their big success. Feminists have cited such novels as being on the verge of 'rape fantasies' and have condemned them for promoting poor sexual health and failed 'real-life' relationships among their readers; due to their expectations being higher than those not reading them.
Modern Mills and Boon now offer a wide range of sub-genres, various styles, romantic possibilities and different settings, while still maintaining that same familiarity known to all their readers. With over 100 novels being released each month, you will not be short of amazing stories to read.

It had been more than ten years since tracker Ethan had seen the woman who’d loved him and left him with no explanation.
FBI agent Joanna was as beautiful and secretive as ever, but insisted on keeping their past – and their passion – where it belonged..
My Thoughts
FBI agent Joanna had left her old live and her old self behind, now more than 10 years later a case in need of her expertise is making her head back to her old live, her old home-town and all those nightmares that she was wanting to forget and leave behind. This includes her one true love Ethan.
Now Joanna has to put herself in more than one difficult situation than she would like, including needing to rely on the help of Ethan (considering how she left him more than 10 years previously, she was unsure how it was going to play out).
Ethan is an exceptional tracker and understands the mountains on the reservation more than anyone. After seeing Joanna again for the first time since she left him behind more than 10 years earlier, he soon begins to realise that he still loves her and is determined to protect her any way he can from what she has to face during this case.
I loved this book. It was great. It tied in with the previous one (Collecting Evidence by Rita Herron) - However, I did notice quite a few mistakes with characters and plot when reading it. This still didn't stop me from enjoying the story.
This is perfect for any intrigue, suspense, crime, romantic fans!
The characters were sweet and likeable. I loved to see the story both unfold (finding out about the past) and develop between the two main characters in the story - Joanna and Ethan. There was personal struggle for Joanna having to relive her past as well as dealing with what is going on in the present.
Julie Miller has followed the footsteps of Rita Herron and has continued on with the story that I first read in 'Collecting Evidence'. Although Julie has managed to maintain the characters and the basic structure of Rita's original story, she has put her own personal spin on it and turned concepts from 'Collecting Evidence' into her own.
Bravo, Julie Miller!

My Rating
I thought this book was great. I truly liked how Julie tied in characters and the structure from Rita's 'Collecting Evidence', but I did get a little disappointed that there were some mistakes made by Julie. This for me, only kind of spoilt the story - ever so slightly.
However, considering the general story and how everything developed, I have to rate this with a 4 out of 5.

The first thing FBI agent Dylan Acevedo remembered when he saw Aspen again was the steamy week they’d once shared.
Yet Aspen now has no memory of him, the murder she’d witnessed, or that he could be the father of her infant son…
My Thoughts
After reeling from a horrific case involving a serial killer, Dylan heads to Las Vegas to forget himself and try to drown his sorrows for those victims her was unable to save.
Aspen is working in Vegas (Leaving her home on the reservation following the death of her mother)
They are both 'running away' from their problems, but once they see each other, things change for one amazing, sexy, lustful week. Until Dylan has to leave to go work undercover.
Months pass before they cross paths again. Aspen witnesses two men dumping a body, which puts her and her family in grave danger.
Dylan is brought in by his twin brother to look into the disappearance of a woman, who happens to be Aspen. Once he finds her it is clear that she doesn't have any recollection of him or anything else for that matter (which includes her son). Now Dylan had Aspen back in his life he is reluctant to let her out of his sight.
He soon started to question whether or not Aspens son could be his, but with the only person knowing the truth to that having amnesia, it is going to be a long 'ride' for hi before he finds out the truth from her. Will she ever remember the time they had together?
This is an amazing, fantastic book. Rita Herron was able to transport me directly into the story. With the fabulous characters and plot I truly found it difficult to put down. I was completely hooked from the first to last paragraph.
I loved to see how Aspen struggled to muddle through but was able to stay strong for her son even though she couldn't remember him or anything else from her life before her accident. Then to watch those around her (like her cousin Emma) including Dylan, to know what is happening or looking for answers themselves but struggling with their own impatience to not push her too far is incredible.
This is a fantastic romantic suspense, full of twists and turns, action and adventure, struggles and triumphs, family and relationships and of course the various amounts of danger along the way. It is a book that can be enjoyed by anyone looking for a great read.
Fabulous! I really could not put it down! Without fail Mills and Boon are able to bring authors that are true storytellers when it comes to Intrigue books. Rita Herron is amazing, Her characters, her plot, basically the whole package was unbelievably UNPUTDOWNABLE! I truly cannot get enough and I hope Rita bring out more stories with these amazingly likeable/lovable characters in!

THE BRIDGE BY CAROL ERICSON

Summary
Elise Duran has just escaped a serial killer by jumping in to the San Francisco Bay. Now rescued by workmen he heads to hospital were she means the handsome, safe Sean Brody, a Homicide Detective for the SFPD.
From the first moment Sean and Elise met clearly there is an instant connection but Elsie becomes aware that although she feels safer with him, there is definitely more to the Homicide Detective than what he is willing to let on.
Haunted by something from his past, Detective Brody has a need to protect Elise, which become more apparent when the killer starts to send messages to them both.
Now that Elise got away from the murderer once, he is insistent on keeping her and Brody in on the gruesome killings that he is dishing out around San Francisco.
Could his deep, dark secret have something to do with his past? Is there a connection between this and the recent murders? Either way, this troublesome secret seems to be something they can't escape, but could death bring and answer or at least a silver lining??
This book is the first in the 'Brody Law' series.

"HE LIFTED ONE EYEBROW. "Is that what you think this is all about? Protection? Securing a witness?"
The pulse in her wrist ticked up several notches. Could he feel it? "I'm the only witness you have right now."
He chuckled in the back of his throat, and the low sound sent a line of tingles racing down to her toes.
"The SFPD is not in the bodyguarding business. We're not going to put you in the Witness Protection Program. Everything I've done for you has been off the books and off the clock."
She twisted her own napkin in her lap as she titled her head back to take in his imposing figure.
"Why'd you do it?"
"Do you have to ask?""

My Rating
I rate this book with 5 books out of 5.
A fantastic story that had me hooked from the very first page. The characters were likeable and clearly had so high voltage chemistry between them.
With a serial killer on the lose upset they didn't get the person they wanted, you will not be too short of action at any point through this book. Lets just say, it kept me questioning until the very end. Is this killer closer to the victim than they could have ever imagined??

JOSH BY DELORES FOSSEN.

Summary/Blurb
Josh is a story about a FBI agent who was injured while on the job, so he decided to head back home to Silver Creek to work with his cousins as a Texas lawman. Expecting things to not be high paced like at his old job, little did he know when he stumbles upon suspicious activity out at a ranch. He finds himself face to face with pregnant women, one who happens to be an FBI agent called Jaycee, that he spend the night with before his near fatal accident 5 months earlier.
Now he and his cousins have to find away to safe several pregnant women who are being held captives for their offspring. One of which just happens to be his unborn child.
The question is can he keep Jaycee from being reckless this time, now that it isn't just his life he needs to worry about?
This is book #7 in 'The Lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch Series
Extract from the book
""Any sign of the men or the hostages?"
"None." Josh put down his hands but didn't move off the bed. He stayed right there looming over her.
And he was naked.
Jaycee did a double take.
Okay, not naked. Just Shirtless.
She had a good view of not just those toned abs and pecs but also the scar. It was several inches long and gashed across his otherwise perfect body.Even though it was well healed, she figured the ashy white line would never go away.
The memory of it certainly wouldn't."

My Rating
I rate this book with 5 books out of 5.
Fantastic story, amazing characters and I truly felt it was full of suspense.
And of course the Cowboy/FBI agent isn't all that bad to think about either.
With kidnapping, a strained work relationship/intimate relationship due to a work related incident and of course the traditional 'M&B' twist you will NOT be disappointed. Hard to put it down. A fantastic series, the Sliver Lake Ranch Series has to be one of my top 2 ones that Mills and Boons have produced over the years! Totally a must read.

SUMMER NIGHTS WITH A VAMPIRE

Blurb
Summer Nights with a vampire is a collection of five stories from the following various writers; MAGGIE SHAYNE, MAUREEN CHILD, ALEXIS MORGAN, LINDA THOMAS-SUNDSTROM AND MEAGAN HATFIELD.
Story titles - Vampires in Paradise / Immortal / A Vampire's Vindication / Vampire Lover / Vampire in Her Mysts.
My Thoughts
Each story has one thing in common and that is these strong, sexy immortals want to come out and play and what better way to do that than to find a female to play with.
The only thing is, now they've found their playmates, they don't want to give them up. So now they need to convince them to give up the daylight and stay with them forever, but is this something easily said than done????
These five steamy stories are definitely going to have you going for a cold shower.
You can't help but fall in love with all of the characters from each story and to get truly 'sucked' in to their lives. I felt like I was there, like a fly on the wall watching as each individual plot developed and then blossomed into something special. Unfortunately, I did find that the stories for me were too short. I know that they were meant to be that way, but each one could easily have progressed into something more.
If you are a fan of sexy, sizzling, romantic, vampire stories, then this book is the perfect one for you.
If you haven't tried a vampire/paranormal story before and were maybe considering giving it a go, then I would say 'dip your toes in' with this one!
