Random thoughts brought to you from me. Normally book related in some way. Check out my thoughts on books, films made from books, how to make things using books, how to mend damaged ones and more.
Ramblings of a Book Lover.
11/11/14 - After just finishing taking part in a #bookbloggers chat on Twitter and then updating various things on my GoodReads pages I started to contemplate Books and how they make me feel and how I feel they shape me as a person.
I love nothing more than reading (my darling BF, Paul excluded - However I do sometimes ignore him or shout if I am engrossed in a great book/storyline).
To me there is nothing more interesting and fulfilling than getting stuck into a great story. I love the feeling of losing myself and being transported to another place and time. It's almost like an 'outer body' experience when I read. Everything else is blocked out. I hear nothing else than the characters conversations and the narration of the person telling the story. I get 'tunnel vision' I am visualising the story, I see the characters as I think the author is trying to put across and nothing else matters. And sleep, well sleep can sometimes not come.
There has been many times over the years when my partner has caught me under the covers with my book/Kindle and my head lamp at 5am and tells me to get some sleep. But how can you truly explain to someone how gripped and engrossed you are in that moment?
Whether its a Romance, Suspense or a Urban Fantasy for Young Adults books have the ability to transport me to another world. Like a 'fly on the wall' I am there, in the story, living everything as the main characters do, while their stories unfold.
Yes, I admit hands down I laugh out loud when there is a funny moment - One that springs straight to mind is Grandma Mazur from Janet Evanovich best-selling series 'Stephanie Plum' - With out fail when reading any books from Evanovich I laugh out loud and I don't care who sees me.
Then there are those books that make me cry - many come to mind when thinking of this - It could be due to a loss of a main character or a feel good ending and I am sad because its over and I feel lost and unsure what to do or read next. - Example here (sorry people) but would be the last book of the 'Divergent' Series, by Veronica Roth (Book Three - 'Allegiant').
Either way, all I know is no matter where I am, I will and always have a book or my Kindle with me with a book that I can turn to. I could be waiting at the doctors for an appointment or sitting in the hairdressers with colours on my hair. I will always have a need, 'A NEED TO READ'.
Personal opinion, is that the various books that we read can shape who we are. They help us adapt to the various situations that life sends our way, to learn, to grow and most of all to just be in the moment and feel the various emotions that a great story-teller portraits through their words onto the pages we read.
Well, now you know how I feel and I would love to hear what your thoughts are. You can email me or alternatively, you can send me a message via G+ or Twitter using the hash tag - #bookramblings
I look forward to hearing from you all soon.
Thank you and as always, KEEP READING!

MERRY CHRISTMAS & A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
28/12/14 - Well better late than ever, but like most people Christmas has been rather a mad dash. We luckily had an amazing holiday to Tenerife for Paul's 30th and just got back on the 14th. Of course we thought "No worries, we'll wait until we get back before starting our Christmas shopping for presents and food for the Christmas Day lunch.
Thankfully, all though it has been a crazy mad dash and have only managed to type up a few book reviews (I got plenty read while being away) we have as of yesterday finished all shopping (I know, late but we see family at various times).
Anyway, I do hope everyone has had am amazing time and hopefully, like me you will have received a book or two (sorry to gloat - I got 7) when you opened your gifts from under the tree. Of course, for those of you who didn't receive a book, but were hoping on getting one; fear not! Thankfully to amazing, outrageous sales going on both online and in the stores now, you can treat yourself to that special book you hoping to get.
Well, I think that is enough of me rambling on. For those of you out there that are looking to 'up-cycle' your wrapping paper of old books that are beyond repair/reading - Then why not check out the YouTube videos below.
Amazingly, there are various uses for using such items all year round. Just type in 'how to make items using books' or something similar and you will be inundated with great ideas from bouquets, bags, decorations, découpage and more.
Again, I want to wish you all the best for the rest of 2014 and hope 2015 is full of joy, happiness, fun and of course READING!

Where have I been??
20/07/15 - "So, I know it has been a while (too long to be perfectly honest) since I last reviewed a book on this site. For that I want to both explain and apologise to all of my readers.
So, why has it been so long since I last posted? Well, my partner and I are expecting our first baby and unfortunately, although it is amazing news and we are thrilled, it has made me feel rather under the weather. Morning sickness, but all day every day.
This has meant that reading hasn't really been a high priority in my book. I am hoping now I am nearing my last trimester, that I will be able to post a few reviews up until I deliver. Of course, after that happens in November I am unsure of what will happen to this site.
I would like to think that it will be able to continue and if anyone out there is willing to help me out with the running/reviews of this book site I would be very interested in hearing from you. All I ask is for you to send me a quick email with a little information about yourself, what you like to read and how many books you think you will be able to read per month. If you are interested in this, please feel free to email me at [email protected]
I look forward to hearing from you soon about this exciting new opportunity.
Again, I am sorry for the lack of posts and I appreciate you all for being patient with me.
As always, take care and of course KEEP READING!!!"
