My Rating
Although I wasn't disappointed with this story, it's characters and it's plot and an reluctant to give it higher than a 3 out of 5. Yes it was a lovely story and an easy read, but I have found some of her previous stories to be more enveloping.
I was able to transport myself into the story, like I was a fly on the wall however unlike most of her others I hand no problem putting this down and picking it up again later on. Whereas with her others I found myself at the end of the book before I even knew it.
This was still a good read though.

Summary
"Against a vivid backdrop of history, Danielle Steel tells a compelling story of love and war, acts of faith and acts of betrayal…and of three generations of women as they journey though years of loss and survival, linked by an indomitable devotion that echoes across time.
For the Wittgenstein family, the summer of 1915 was a time of both prosperity and unease, as the guns of war sound in the distance. But for eldest daughter Beata, it was also a summer of awakening. By the glimmering waters of Lake Geneva, the quiet Jewish beauty met a young French officer and fell in love. Knowing that her parents would never accept her marriage to a Catholic, Beata followed her heart anyway. And as the two built a new life together, Beata’s past would stay with her in ways she could never have predicted. For as the years pass, and Europe is once again engulfed in war, Beata must watch in horror as Hitler’s terror threatens her life and family—even her eighteen-year-old daughter Amadea, who has taken on the vows of a Carmelite nun.
For Amadea, the convent is no refuge. As family and friends are swept away without a trace, Amadea is forced into hiding. Thus begins a harrowing journey of survival, as she escapes into the heart of the French Resistance. Here Amadea will find a renewed sense of purpose, taking on the most daring missions behind enemy lines. And it is here, in the darkest moments of fear, that Amadea will feel her mother’s loving strength—and that of her mother’s mother before her–as the voices of lost loved ones echo powerfully in her heart. And here, amid the fires of war, Amadea will meet an extraordinary man, British secret agent Rupert Montgomery. In Colonel Montgomery, Amadea finds a man who will help her discover her place in an unbreakable chain between generations…and between her lost family and her dreams for the future—a future she is only just beginning to imagine: a future of hope rooted in the rich soil of the past.
With the grace of a master storyteller, Danielle Steel breathes life into history, creating a bold, sweeping tale filled with unforgettable characters and breathtaking images—from the elegant rituals of Europe’s pre-war aristocracy to the brutal desperation of Germany’s death camps. Drawing us into a vanished world, Echoes weaves an intricate tapestry of a mother’s love, a daughter’s courage…and the unwavering faith that sustained them—even in history’s darkest hour."
My Thoughts
I liked this book a lot. The characters where varied and likeable. As a story teller, Steel has a way of placing her readers inside the story like a 'fly on the wall'. In my opinion, Danielle Steel most definitely carried out in-depth research to be able to get such detail for her novel. It is amazing how she was able to show both brutality, human desperation and courage, love, friendship and such cruelty in one book. Steel has been able to take a horrific, historical event and adapt it to fictional characters and show how they were able to overcome such tragedy in concentration camps, yet keep the human spirit and courage of those who went through something so horrible.
It is beautifully written and an amazing read. I was hooked from the very first chapter and didn't stop until the story had ended. I experienced a wide range of emotions from happiness, and sometimes laughter to complete and utter sadness, that it even made me cry.
Danielle Steel has yet again been able to put me right into her stories and keep me fully hooked, line and sinker right up to the very last page.

Blurb
Trouble seems to find Carly Bryson wherever she goes.
Her dream of moving to California to start a modeling career suddenly becomes a reality, but at what cost? Forces are working against her, sending her on a race against the clock to save everything she’s ever loved, including Logan Sanders.
In this dramatized, romantic comedy, Logan Sanders is strung up by his proverbial heels in his attempt to track down the woman of his dreams.
He’s strong, yet gentle, and forced to test his boundaries on a quest for answers, redemption, and ultimately, revenge.
My Thoughts
What a great shorty story. Full of romance, suspense, gripping and of course emotional. Ditter Kellen has managed to write an amazing story in few words.
The chapters keep you enthralled from the first to last sentence.
A relationship between the main characters Logan and Carly is purely stuck in the 'Friend-zone' even though they are both in love with each other. It is great to see how this develops.
The characters are relate-able, likeable and they have amazing chemistry. There is a mixture of romance, tender scenes and of course a roller-coaster of emotions and humour.
If Kellen's other books are like this one, then I will be sure to read more. Ditter is an amazing romance novelist.
